Energy PyramidAn energy pyramid is a graphical model of the energy flow in an ecosystem. Only about 10% of the energy in each level of the energy pyramid is transferred to the next level of the pyramid. Each level is dependent upon one another for energy to live. You can see in the picture to the right that the energy pyramid has a large base and a small top. Less energy is available at higher levels of the pyramid because most of the energy has already been used at the lower levels. Energy pyramids connect to the trophic levels because they both show the energy flow.
